Forgiveness-~New beginnings~

If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in my own willful, way,
               Dear Lord, forgive!

The Lord is quick to forgive when we ask Him. My question is this? Am I quick to forgive? Like a clogged drain, unforgiveness in one's heart keeps all the "yucky stuff" there.  I think of the problem we were having with our dishwasher this week. It is a nice $40.00 stainless steel fairly new find at a yard sale recently. It seemed to work well, but the last few washings would not completely drain the water out. The old water just lay stagnant in the bottom of the dishwasher. My husband was anxious to go get another (new one--at the tune of $500.00!) I suggested that he try to fix this one. (now there's a novel idea) He wasn't entirely thrilled, but he agreed to try. I checked the vast knowledge of the internet and found a site that suggested problems of dishwashers and how to go about repairing them. Low and behold, my husband found out that it was probably a clogged drain pipe---and it was!!  Voila!   No more sitting water! --Clean dishes!!
One of the points of telling this story is to say that when the water would not drain, we tried to use the diswasher anyway, and boy that did not work! It would just make a mess of the dishes---kind of like what happens when we do not forgive---we recycle the yuck that has clogged up in our hearts to all those around us.
I like to think about new beginnings---and the start of fall is the end of summer, but also a new begining for me. I think it goes back to memories of the start of school in the fall. Remember the new clothes, new pencils, paper, lunch boxes--not to mention the most important--new teachers and new friends!
Here is to new beginnings in our hearts as well~~ May we all be quick to forgive and before that, even, quick to over-look an offense.  Blesssings----
